Beaver Dam Middle School offers music education through general music, chorus, orchestra and band.
We know that students engaged in music programs and learning helps develop skills including increased confidence, responsibility, and understanding that personal discipline yields great personal accomplishments. In music, every student is part of a team - no one sits on the bench! As a team, we work towards a goal and perform those goals through regular concerts and other events.
Students who learn music also develop a life-long skill, and many of our graduates play their instrument, or sing and perform well past retirement age!
We are fortunate to offer students individualized or small group lessons in band, orchestra and chorus (vocal lessons start at 7th grade; band and orchestra lessons start at 6th grade), in addition to regular class education! This additional personalized approach offers our students the ability to become more confident and understanding of their instrument or vocal abilities quickly and makes a huge difference in the impact of the entire class and the goals we can accomplish. In turn, that allows for broader music choices and ensuring the students have some fun with their music selections along the way!
