The Beaver Dam Unified School District’s mission is to educate all students, develop their unique talents and interests, and prepare them to be productive members of the world. A means to this end is to hire and retain high quality staff members. All Beaver Dam Unified School District teachers have a bachelor’s degree and are licensed by Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction. In addition, 50% of our teachers hold a master’s degree.
The No Child Left Behind federal law provides you with the right to ask for and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher(s). Specifically, you have the right to request the following:
- Is my child’s teacher licensed to teach the grades or subjects assigned?
- Has the state waived any requirements for my child’s teacher?
- What is the major of my child’s teacher?
- What other degrees does my child’s teacher hold?
- Are there instructional aides working with my child and, if so, what are their qualifications?
You can check on the licensure of your child’s teacher by accessing the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website. You may also request the information through the Beaver Dam Unified School District’s Human Resources Department at 920-885-7300 Ext. 1112.
The Beaver Dam Unified School District continues to place a high priority on hiring the most qualified teachers and providing continued support for their professional growth and development. If you would like more information about teacher licensure or other aspects of the hiring process, please contact the Beaver Dam Unified School District's Human Resources Department at 920-885-7300, Ext. 1112.
