The Beaver Dam Unified School District offers a comprehensive Summer School program to students in the Beaver Dam area. The program is available to children who attend public or parochial school during the school year. Summer School for all grade levels will be June 14 - July 29, 2021, and will run Monday-Thursday. Elementary classes will be held at Prairie View Elementary School and Jefferson Elementary School. Middle School classes will be held at the Middle School and High School classes will be held at the High School. There will be no summer school from July 5 - July 8, 2021, for the Independence Day holiday break.
Summer School offers a variety of courses at all levels. Skill building classes are designed to strengthen subject areas in which students may need additional help. They are structured to be more remedial in nature. Enrichment classes are also offered to provide students with learning activities that broaden their skills and enrich their interests.
Teachers often recommend that a student enroll in Summer School to further develop the skills and abilities needed to help them be successful at the next grade level. Parents are urged to give serious thought to such recommendations. Please note that some courses are available ONLY through teacher recommendation.
Registration
Early registration is encouraged, so program needs can be determined. Registrations will be processed in the order in which they are received. Students are not guaranteed all classes they choose and some classes may need to be canceled if enrollment numbers are too low. If classes fill up, your child may be scheduled into an alternate course.
Elementary Registration is due by April 30, 2021.
Middle School Registration is due by May 3, 2021.
Summer School Fees
Some courses have a fee to cover the cost of supplies. The fee amount is listed in the course description. Fees are required to be paid when submitting the registration form. Fees are waived for families that have an approved free/reduced price meal application for the 2020-2021 school year.
Summer Food Service Program
BDUSD and Taher, Inc. will once again provide nutritious meals to children at no charge to parents/families. This is made possible through Federal funding of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Free meals are available to children 18 years of age and under and to any persons over the age of 18 who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled.
Meals will be served on all days summer school is in session and at all summer school sites. Children not enrolled in the BDUSD summer school program may get a free bagged lunch at other sites throughout the community.
