Thank you for considering the Beaver Dam Unified School District. We are grounded in a mission to guide students and empower futures, and we are driven by a vision to lead the way in student growth and achievement. Our students have the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow in a variety of venues. Whether it is in a classroom or lab, on a stage, field of play, or virtually, we will prepare, nurture, differentiate, and stretch the learning of children to prepare them for their futures.
Our district serves approximately 3,500 in grades Pre-K through 12 and includes: Beaver Dam High School, Beaver Dam Middle School, Don Smith Learning Academy and five elementary schools: Jefferson, Lincoln, Prairie View, Washington, and Wilson.
We have award-winning schools and teachers, including Kohl Fellowship recipients and National Board Certified teachers.

Academics
- We have a nationally recognized Advanced Placement program with over 18 comprehensive course offerings allowing students to earn college credit while still in high school.
- Technology is integrated into all of our classrooms and our High School and Middle School students have 1:1 technology through the use of Chromebooks.
- We offer robust STEM education, including Project Lead the Way courses.
- The high school partners with Moraine Park Technical College to offer Dual Credit Courses – Transcripted Credit. Junior and Senior students may elect to be involved in courses where credit is granted at Moraine Park Technical College after successful completion of the course.
- Our Agri-Science program offers a state-of-the-art greenhouse and labs, including a large animal lab.
- We offer advanced and specialty Art & Design courses, including college-level courses.
- Business & Marketing students learn practical application by operating the school store.
- Our Music program offers students the opportunity to develop their talents through an array of instrumental and vocal courses in an acoustically-designed music suite.
- Technology & Engineering Education features an cutting-edge fabrication lab. We also partner with area businesses and manufacturers and the Dodge County Manufacturer’s Business Alliance.
- World Language offers students the opportunity to explore other cultures through our Spanish and German language courses.
- The High School German Language Program has participated in the student exchange German-American Partnership Program for nearly 40 years. It is the longest running exchange in the nation.
The Arts
- The High School Fall Musical has been nominated for multiple 2019 Jerry Awards, which is a Wisconsin High School Musical Awards Program that encourages, recognizes, and honors excellence in high school musical theater.
- Solo and Ensemble State-qualifying musicians consistently earn the highest rankings.
- Our annual Parade of Bands, String Fling, and All-District Choral Festival are highly popular events.
Activities
- The Beaver Dam FFA Chapter is one of the original charter chapters of the Wisconsin Association of FFA. The original charter dates back to 1929.
- We have award-winning Robotics Teams at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels.
- We have a strong High School Mock Trial program that is a consistent state qualifier.
- Our Trapshooting team competes at the State and National level.
Athletics
- The High School received the WIAA Award of Excellence in 2016-17 and 2017-18. The award recognizes schools for their efforts and achievements in the areas of sportsmanship, ethics, integrity, leadership, and character.
- We have a successful High School Girl's Basketball Team with 3 consecutive state titles, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
- Our girls' hockey co-op has not only competed in the state tournament, but is also state-ranked.
- We have a successful state-ranked High School Girls' Hockey Co-op Program that has competed in the State Tournament.
- Many of our programs have won conference championships and there have been state-qualifiers in cross country, boys' and girls' golf, girls' and boys' tennis, track, and wrestling.
- Our Powerlifting teams have participated at the state and national levels.
Facilities
- Through a community-supported referendum, our High School received a complete remodel/renovation to become a state-of-the art facility with natural lighting throughout the building.
- Every classroom is new or remodeled, including state-of-the art agricultural, science, art, and culinary arts labs along with a cutting-edge technology education fabrication lab.
- There are new student collaborative work spaces.
- The music classrooms have been transformed into an acoustically-designed music suite that offers our instrumental and choral music students a top-notch place to share and develop their talents.
- The auditorium received a complete refresh for full accessibility and new seating.
- The field house features a 200 meter indoor track, 5 stations/courts, 2 tournament-grade competition courts, and seats over 3,000 people.
- Our Middle School provides new STEM learning labs to engage learners in our growing STEM education programs.
- All of our buildings are equipped with safe, secure, and streamlined entry procedures, allowing staff to always know who is in our buildings and when.
