Cross categorical Email Phone: 920-885-7313 x2126/2248 Hello!
I am a Cross Categorical Special Education teacher at Beaver Dam High School. I teach Work Experience and Language Skills - grade 11 and 12. In addition, I support students through Academic Resource class. I have been teaching at BDHS since 2009.
I was born and raised in Watertown Wisconsin. I have four children, ages 11 through 22. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Education in December 2007 at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. I have been with the Beaver Dam Unified School District for six years. During my first year in Beaver Dam I was a student teacher at Lincoln Elementary. Upon graduation from college I began teaching summer school at Prairie View Elementary School (Autism). From there I taught at Jefferson Elementary School for two years in grades three through five. I love working and teaching students of all ages and abilities!
Prior to becoming a teacher, which is something I never thought about when I first embarked on my college education, I completed two associate degrees through Madison Area Technical College. I hold an associates degree in Biotechnology, and I am facinated by the field of science, especially microbiology. What many people do not know about me is that I was an indpenedent business owner and operated a retail store, renting costumes and decorating with balloons as well as singing "gorilla grams" for special events and birthdays. I also designed and operated a 5000 sq. ft. Haunted Barn attraction in Watertown for 11 years and loved every aspect of it!
I love teaching and I have been blessed to have wonderful students to work with and teach in the Beaver Dam Unified School District! I have high expectations for all my students and I truly believe in ability first.
I look forward to a very rewarding and exciting year with the students at Beaver Dam High School! Go Beavers!
