Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! This is my 4th year in the Beaver Dam Unified School District and it always amazes me how fast time flies. Every year I have more ideas and initiatives I try to implement into my classes and this year is no different. My main goal is to focus on lifelong fitness and to teach a wide variety of activities to students so they can be prepared for their future. Before students graduate, it is my goal and our department's goal to give students many activities they are familiar with, in hopes that they can choose one or two to carry into adulthood. Recently, there has been a paradigm shift to include activities such as kickboxing, zumba, circuit training, crossfit, etc, just to name a few. No longer are the days of teaching only traditional activities such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Instead, we are also incorporating elements of personal fitness so that students can experience both traditional and contemporary activities.
This year I am teaching fitness club, Life Fitness I, and Adapted/Alternative PE. It is a blessing to be able to work with students in grades 9-12 on all different ability levels. In all of my classes, lifetime fitness is the goal, as we encourage students to find the activities they truly love.
It's going to be a great year and if you need to find me, my office has moved! I am now located in the south gym girl's locker room. Here's to an awesome school year!!
