The Partners Are Learning (PAL) Program provides one-to-one tutoring and mentoring to students in grades 2 - 8 through the use of community volunteers. Volunteers meet with the student twice a week at the students' school, before or after the school day. Students who will benefit from this individualized academic assistance are recommended to the program by their classroom teacher and school principal. Volunteers follow teachers' lesson plans to assist the students with their particular assignments in math, reading, spelling, writing, and social studies.
Program Mission
The purpose of Partners Are Learning is to improve school performance of at-risk students by providing one-to-one tutoring through community volunteers, and to improve the student's attitude toward learning with the aid of a positive role model of the volunteer mentor.
