Visitor Management System
The Beaver Dam Unified School District currently uses the Raptor Visitor Management System at all district schools to track parents, visitors, volunteers, and contractors in the schools, providing a safer environment for students and staff. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and the Raptor System provides a consistent manner to aid in keeping away people who may present a danger to our students and staff. All visitors, parents, contractors, and volunteers entering a district school must be scanned into the system and obtain a visitor badge.
When entering a district building, parents, visitors, volunteers, and contractors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system, even if you have done so in the past. The system checks to ensure that registered offenders are not entering our schools. The Raptor System only scans the person’s name, date of birth, and photo for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. Additional data from the ID is not gathered or accessible by users, and the system is not connected to any other organizations.
Once entry is approved, a badge will be issued that identifies the person, date, and purpose of the visit. The Raptor System will not be necessary for those who visit a school to drop off or pick up an item in the office. If a person does not have identification, he/she can still be given access to the building, but may be escorted by a school staff member.
In addition to this effort, all buildings now have a safe and secure entrance sequence to maximize access control to our schools during the day. All visitors must enter through the identified entrance during the school day. As part of this effort, we ask that families remind their children that they should never open an exterior door for someone. All authorized personnel have the ability to access the doors they need to. Again, all visitors or non-school personnel must enter through the identified secure front entrance sequence.
Thank you in advance for supporting school safety protocols in our district.
