Radium Girls
As all of you know by now, rehearsal is cancelled for tonight – February 17, because of weather. There are a few things I wanted to get out to you today.
Schedule – expect rehearsals to run later than normal - Tuesday and Thursday until 8:45/9:00.
WEDNESDAY- Remember – this rehearsal is from 4:30 t0 6:30. Meet at Frau Tunks’ room. This is not new, just a reminder.
FRIDAY - 3:15 – 5:15. This is now a full cast, extended time, rehearsal. I realize that many of you may be scheduled to work during this time. If there is any rearranging of schedules that can be done, please try to do so. If you know that you cannot be there, let me know at rehearsal tomorrow.
COSTUMES – Frau Combs and I will be going to the community theater tomorrow after school. Anyone who is available to join us is invited. We will still do our best to bring costumes back for those that cannot come, but we felt it would be easier to have as many of you as possible come to the theater with us and try things on there.
If you are not coming with us to the theater: You will need to try on the costumes that we bring back.
Here are the available times –
Tuesday or Thursday arrive between 5:45 and 6:00 (before rehearsal)
Wednesday or Thursday, 8th hour (study hall kids only)
Wednesday after rehearsal
Thursday after school
U.S.W. (As they say in German – Und so weiter) Etc.
Now that you have extra free time tonight, run those lines!! It is best if you can have someone else read with you. It very often isn’t saying your lines that is the problem. The issue is often knowing when to say them – what are your cues. It will also help many of you to move around the space that you are in as if you are on stage. For most people, the physical movement helps cement the words into place. (And who cares if people around you think you’re crazy, right?)
Props
As you are saying your lines, make a list of any and all props that you know you need. Check with Frau Combs before rehearsal tomorrow to see if she has something for you to use.
Also – we still need at least one cane, if not more. Please ask around and if you or someone you know is willing to allow us to use it, please bring it in as soon as possible. We are looking for a wooden cane.
Finally...
Keep talking up this show to any and all. Use some of your unexpected free time tonight to send out personal invitations. Call people. That’s right – call them. Send a note through the mail. That’s right – you know, that’s the stuff you need a a stamp for. It’s hard to ignore a personal invitation. Think outside the box. Are there people at work, at your dance classes, at church, that wouldn’t think of coming otherwise, but might if you personally invited them? And don’t forget to tell everyone you invite that they should invite someone else to come with them. We’ve all worked very hard and this is such an amazing story that I want as many people as possible to see it.

Thank you to everyone who auditioned. There was enough talent that I could have cast this show in many different ways. This, of course, made decisions terribly difficult. If you were not cast, please know that I appreciate your audition and hope you will consider auditioning again in the future. If you would like to work backstage, please see Frau Combs.
