Business Education Teacher Email Phone: 920-885-7313 x2400 Family and Consumer Science is a fun way to learn - it's practical and teaches skills that we all use on a daily basis. My emphasis is in Child Development. I love learning how children grow and learn and passing that information on to my high school students. My husband and I have five children who have taught us a lot about loving life. On average, a child laughs 150 times a day - we definitely have a house full of fun and laughter. I hope my high school students will enjoy being with children as much as I do.
Teaching is a second career for me. At UW-Stout, I received a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising and spent 9 years in Retail Management. Being a Store Manager at Burlington Coat Factory was a great learning experience. I continued my education at UW-Whitewater with a Masters Degree in Education and a certification in Business and Marketing. My first teaching experience was at Marshall WI teaching Elementary Keyboarding and Middle School Computers. After a couple of years I took a teaching position at Columbus High School in Business Education. Always looking for a challenge, Columbus High School was looking to begin a Family and Consumer Science program - I went back to school for a new certification and built a brand new program there.
Looking for new opportunities, I am now teaching at Beaver Dam High School. We offer a great program for students interested in learning more about children or going on to a career working with children. The course, All 'Bout Children is a great introduction to everything kids do. The Assistant Child Care Teacher and Infant/Toddler Development courses provide students with lifetime teaching certificates from the Department of Public Instruction as well as three college credits from Moraine Park Technical College. Both of these courses also use the local childcare centers as a laboratory setting for learning. The Fashions courses have a variety of hands-on learning experiences, giving students an opportunity to learn new skills and explore the world of fashion. Moraine Park credits are also offered for the Fashion Promotions course. What great opportunities for our students!
I am very passionate about my job and enjoy working with students. I welcome parents to participate in the learning experience with me and their child. Please feel free to contact me with concerns or great additions to student learning.
