Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide call to action around educating communities as to their roles in bullying prevention and to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
Bullying prevention will be recognized at the schools by spreading positive messages and providing resources for parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Red Ribbon Week
The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week® , October 23rd - October 31st each year.
SEND A MESSAGE. STAY DRUG FREE.
This year's Red Ribbon Week® theme is a call to action to speak out in support of healthy choices. This theme is also a reminder that by staying drug free, you are sending a message to yourself and others about how much you value yourself, your overall health, your community and your future.
Statically, most youth do not use drugs and alcohol as they have learned of the long list of damages it causes in one’s life. Children of parents who talk to their children about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t. Be a parent that has these conversations with your child. It will make a difference.
HIGH SCHOOL, DSLA, AND MIDDLE SCHOOL
During Red Ribbon Week, students will have the chance to sign the pledge at school to be drug free. Staff, students and parents at the Middle School, High School and DSLA are encouraged to wear red on Wednesday, October 23rd to show unity in being drug free.
