What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a system for teaching and supporting positive behaviors and meeting the needs of ALL students. This school-wide approach to discipline focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn.
The foundation of PBIS at the Beaver Dam Middle School is the four building-wide expectations:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Good Citizens
In addition to our behavior expectations, PBIS is also based on:
- A behavior matrix which explains specific behavior expectations in each school setting
- Direct teaching, modeling and practicing of the expectations
- PBIS Golden Tickets which acknowledge students for following expectations
